In a fiery encounter, PSG fell to Nice (1-3) on Friday night in Ligue 1—a heavy defeat for the Parisians just days before their crucial Champions League clash against Arsenal.
The Parisians’ impressive unbeaten run in Ligue 1 has come to an end. Undefeated since the start of the season, PSG was overwhelmed by Nice on Friday during Matchday 31 of the league. After a fiercely contested match, the Rouge & Bleu lost 3-1.
Trailing after half an hour following a goal from Sanson, the hosts managed to level before halftime. Fabian Ruiz, assisted by Ousmane Dembélé, sent the teams into the break tied at 1-1.
After the restart, a determined Nice side regained the lead with a second goal from Sanson, completing his brace. On the hour mark, Youssouf Ndayishimiye extended the visitors’ advantage with a powerful header, sealing the 3-1 win for Nice.
Despite the defeat, PSG remains Ligue 1 champions, meaning the loss carries no major consequence for their domestic campaign. However, Luis Enrique’s men will need to regroup quickly before traveling to London to face Arsenal on Tuesday for the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals.
