Nine terrorists were killed during a police operation in the southwestern province of Balochistan, Pakistan, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) announced on Friday.
The intervention took place in the Khanoi Baba region following intelligence reports indicating the presence of terrorists, according to the CTD. A firefight broke out during the operation, resulting in the neutralization of the suspects.
Security forces also uncovered a cache containing weapons and explosives, including automatic firearms, grenades, and ammunition.
Shahid Rind, spokesperson for the provincial government, stated that the individuals killed were involved in multiple terrorist activities and had been under close surveillance. He added that security measures in the area had been strengthened and that the investigation was ongoing.
Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Sarfraz Bugti, praised the CTD and law enforcement forces for the success of the operation. “The security forces play a key role in protecting Balochistan,” he said in a statement, adding, “Those who seek to disrupt the peace will fail.”
