USA: Nigerian graduate sues Trump over visa revocation

Cynderila Patrick, a Nigerian graduate of Youngstown State University (YSU) in Ohio, has filed a lawsuit against U.S. President Donald Trump following the revocation of her student visa.

Patrick’s lawyer, Rhys Cartwright-Jones, filed the complaint against the Trump administration on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, arguing that the revocation of his client’s student visa poses a threat to her educational investment.

The 36-year-old woman’s visa was revoked on April 8, making her another casualty of the ongoing revocation of international student visas initiated by the U.S. government as part of a broader immigration crackdown.

Reports suggest that Trump has used minor offenses, such as traffic violations, as grounds to cancel the visas of foreign students on California campuses.
