HomeSportFootballUCL: Real Madrid and Bayern Munich eliminated, Arsenal and Inter Milan reach semi-finals

Arsenal booked their place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday night with a 2–1 victory over Real Madrid. Inter Milan also secured a spot in the final four after drawing 2–2 with Bayern Munich.

Reigning champions Real Madrid will not retain their crown. The Spanish giants were knocked out of the Champions League following their defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday night. After a heavy loss to the Gunners in the first leg, Los Blancos saw their campaign come to an end with another setback in the return leg.

Facing the English side in the second leg of the quarter-finals, Carlo Ancelotti’s men fell 2–1. The result marks their exit from the tournament—unlike Arsenal, who return to the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2009.

Bayern Munich knocked out

In the evening’s other clash, Bayern Munich were also eliminated. The German side faced Inter Milan in a thrilling two-legged tie. After losing 2–1 in the first leg, the Bavarians managed only a 2–2 draw on Wednesday—insufficient to book a spot in the semi-finals.

Inter Milan will now face Barcelona in what promises to be a fiery semi-final showdown.
