Nigerian global superstars Wizkid, Rema, Asake, and Tems have all been nominated in the Favorite Afrobeats Artist category at the 2025 American Music Awards.

Following a busy 2024, which saw Rema release his second studio album HEIS and Tems drop her Grammy-nominated debut Born In The Wild, both artists are now in contention for an AMA.

Asake also made waves with his third album Lungu Boy, while Wizkid released his sixth LP Morayo. Their collaboration “MMS” earned them a Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance and helped secure a spot at the AMAs. The Nigerian lineup will compete against South African star Tyla for the award.

The awards ceremony returns for its 51st edition after being canceled in 2023 and 2024. Fan voting is now open at VoteAMAs.com and on the official @AMAs Instagram profile for all award categories.

Voting will close on Thursday, May 15 at 11:59 PM PT, except for Collaboration of the Year and Social Song of the Year, which will remain open during the first 30 minutes of the AMA broadcast. The 2025 AMAs will take place on May 25, hosted by Jennifer Lopez and broadcast on CBS.
