In Majorca, Spain, a woman who had been declared dead was found alive while being transported for her funeral. A similar incident had occurred just a few months earlier in Guatemala.
According to The Mirror, staff at the Son Valenti funeral home in Palma were shocked to discover that the woman, recently transferred from the morgue, had a pulse and was moving her fingers.
Emergency responders immediately rushed her to Juan March Hospital in Bunyola. As of now, no official information has been released regarding her current condition. An internal investigation has been launched to determine the cause of this extremely serious medical error.
The incident echoes another case reported in February in Guatemala. An unidentified woman admitted to San Juan de Dios General Hospital had been declared dead after showing signs of extreme malnutrition and an apparent lack of brain and respiratory activity.
Five hours later, while inside a body bag, she began showing signs of life—causing panic among morgue staff.
Despite being readmitted for emergency care, the woman did not survive a second resuscitation attempt and was officially declared dead a second time, according to The Daily Record.
