Senegal: Former Ministers Ordered to Return State Cars and Official Residences

The newly established government in Senegal is pressing for the return of state property, including vehicles and official residences, previously used by members of former President Macky Sall’s cabinet.

As part of the transition of power, former government members are required to forfeit the privileges associated with their previous positions. Among the requirements, they must stop using their diplomatic passports and return the service vehicles and keys to the official residences that were allocated to them under the previous administration. The media outlet Senenews reports that former ministers have a two-month deadline to vacate the residences and must proceed with the return of the official vehicles within the current week.

Local press states that it is upon firm directives from the Presidency of the Republic that these recovery steps are being taken. This initiative is likely part of the general audit ordered by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

It is important to note that the allocation of vehicles and official residences is regulated by specific standards defined by presidential decrees in Senegal.
