Real Madrid: Kylian Mbappé Breaks Cristiano Ronaldo’s Record

HomeSportFootballReal Madrid: Kylian Mbappé Breaks Cristiano Ronaldo’s Record

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé has surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal tally from his first season at the club, after scoring his 34th goal during the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona (2-3) on Saturday.

It was a bittersweet night for Kylian Mbappé. Despite Real Madrid’s defeat against Barcelona in a fiercely contested Copa del Rey final (3-2), the French striker achieved a significant personal milestone. By scoring in this latest Clasico, Mbappé netted his 34th goal of the season, thus eclipsing Cristiano Ronaldo’s total during his debut season with the Merengues.

The Portuguese superstar had scored 33 goals during his first campaign (2009–10) after transferring from Manchester United. Now, Mbappé is just four goals shy of surpassing Iván Zamorano’s record for the highest number of goals in a debut season at Real Madrid.

The Chilean forward scored 37 goals during the 1992–93 season after joining the club. Mbappé will now aim to reach that mark when Real Madrid faces Celta Vigo in La Liga next Sunday.
