Real Madrid announced on Monday that Vinicius Junior and Lucas Vázquez have picked up injuries following the team’s weekend defeat to Barcelona.

The heavy loss to Barça not only cost Los Blancos the La Liga title but also left them with two fresh injury concerns. Vinicius Junior, who provided two assists despite an underwhelming overall performance, sustained an injury to his left ankle.

“Following tests carried out today on our player Vinicius Jr. by the Real Madrid medical team, he has been diagnosed with a sprain in his left ankle. His progress will be monitored,” read an official statement from the club.

As for Lucas Vázquez, the Spanish full-back is suffering from a muscle injury.

“Following tests carried out today on our player Lucas Vázquez by the Real Madrid medical team, he has been diagnosed with a strain in the left pectineus muscle,” the statement added.

The injuries come as another blow to manager Carlo Ancelotti, who is navigating his final games in charge of Real Madrid.

The Italian coach will now be without Vinicius Jr, Lucas Vázquez, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Antonio Rüdiger, Dani Carvajal, Éder Militão, Ferland Mendy, Eduardo Camavinga, and David Alaba for the team’s upcoming match against Mallorca.
