HomeSportFootballReal Madrid: “He’s sad” — Ancelotti speaks on Rodrygo’s situation

Outgoing Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has addressed the current condition of Brazilian forward Rodrygo, offering clarity amid swirling rumors about the player’s future.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Madrid’s La Liga clash with Mallorca, Ancelotti revealed that Rodrygo has been dealing with discomfort in his leg, which has left the 24-year-old visibly down. He also noted that the player had been ill with a fever and had missed recent training sessions.

“Rodrygo has some discomfort in his leg. He’s sad about it, but there’s really nothing serious,” Ancelotti explained. “He had a fever and didn’t train last week, so he wasn’t fit. He was feeling unwell, and we wanted to examine him properly.”

The Italian manager took the opportunity to shut down speculation about Rodrygo’s possible departure at the end of the season.

“Everyone loves Rodrygo—especially me,” Ancelotti added with affection.

Rodrygo joined Real Madrid in 2019 from Brazilian side Santos and has since become a key figure in the squad, although his role has been under increased scrutiny amid strong competition from stars like Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham.
