Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that the 2024–2025 campaign has been the most difficult of his 17-year coaching career.

After winning four consecutive Premier League titles, City has struggled to maintain its dominance this season. Guardiola’s side was knocked out of the title race and suffered a painful Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid in the play-offs.

Still, there’s hope for silverware. The Cityzens could end the season on a high if they manage to beat Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final, and they remain on course to secure Champions League qualification for next season.

Speaking to the English press, Guardiola reflected on the mental and emotional toll of the season:

“It’s definitely been the most difficult season—much more demanding. When you don’t win, it becomes more emotionally challenging, more intense in terms of preparation, mood, everything.”

“It’s harder. Harder than previous seasons when we were fighting for titles,” he added.

City currently sits fourth in the Premier League standings, with just two matches left in the campaign.
