The Malian army announced on Tuesday that it had eliminated two terrorist leaders, Ahmad Lamine Ag Hoga and Badaye Ag Elmehfi, during air operations in Kidal, northern Mali, on the night of March 17-18.
According to an army statement, the strikes were launched in retaliation for “heinous acts” perpetrated by the two men against “peaceful citizens”.
In 2012, Mali went through a deep and multi-faceted crisis, marked by independence rebellions, jihadist attacks and inter-community violence, which caused thousands of deaths and displaced hundreds of thousands of people since then.
