HomeSportFootballLiverpool: Trent Alexander-Arnold confirms departure

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has officially confirmed he will leave the Reds at the end of the season.

“This is by far the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make in my life,” Alexander-Arnold wrote in a message posted on social media this Monday. The England international is now expected to sign with Real Madrid.

His departure marks the end of a long journey with his boyhood club. A product of Liverpool’s academy, Alexander-Arnold played 352 matches for the Reds, winning two Premier League titles, including the current season’s crown.

The 26-year-old also helped Liverpool lift the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup in 2019, as well as two Carabao Cups, one FA Cup, and a Community Shield.

Born in West Derby, he began the season as one of three key players in the final year of their contract. While the club succeeded in extending the deals of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk for two more years, Alexander-Arnold will walk away for free.
