HomeSportFootballLa Liga: Real Madrid edge Mallorca to delay Barça’s title celebration

Real Madrid snatched a late 2-1 victory over Mallorca on Wednesday night, thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Jacobo Ramon. The win postpones Barcelona’s anticipated title celebration.

Despite a squad hit hard by injuries—with twelve players sidelined—Los Blancos managed to overcome Mallorca in their Matchday 36 fixture at the Santiago Bernabéu. The visitors struck first through Martin Valjent in the 11th minute, putting Madrid on the back foot early.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men responded after the break. Kylian Mbappé scored the equalizer, continuing his fine run of form, before Jacobo Ramon sealed the win in added time with a dramatic late strike.

The victory secures Real Madrid’s hold on second place in the table and delays Barcelona’s chance to clinch the La Liga title. The Catalans, however, are expected to secure the trophy on Thursday during their away match against Espanyol—a setting they reportedly prefer for their official coronation.
