In Ivory Coast, Clarisse Duncan, wife of former Vice President Daniel Kablan Duncan, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 4, 2025.

The announcement was made in an official statement by Minister Amédé Koffi Kouakou, president of the Association of Central Region Executives for Development (ACCD-RHDP).

“Minister AMÉDÉ KOFFI KOUAKOU, president of the ACCD-RHDP, deeply saddened, regrets to inform all elected officials and executives of the Greater Center of the sudden passing today, May 4, 2025, of our mother and sister,” the statement reads.

Born Clarisse Aya Kouadio, she was a discreet but highly respected figure in Ivorian political life. A longtime member of the PDCI-RDA, she was actively involved in the party, particularly during her husband’s tenure as leader of the PDCI-RDA Renaissance. She was honored as an Officer and later Commander of the Order of the Bélier Merit in recognition of her dedication.

Clarisse Duncan’s death comes at a particularly difficult time for her family, occurring just one day after the burial of her older sister in Toumodi.
