Florida: Delta Air Lines plane engine catches fire before takeoff

An incident involving an aircraft occurred on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Orlando International Airport in Florida.

An Airbus A330 operated by U.S. carrier Delta Air Lines was evacuated in an emergency after one of its engines caught fire while the plane was still on the tarmac, shortly before takeoff. All 282 passengers on board were evacuated using emergency slides, and no injuries have been reported at this time.

According to reports from CNN and CBS, the aircraft—scheduled to fly from Orlando to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport—had just left its gate when a fire was detected in one of its two engines. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Delta Air Lines confirmed that the flames came from one of the main engines, prompting an immediate emergency evacuation.

A video circulating on social media shows thick smoke and flames coming from the aircraft’s right engine, while passengers are seen exiting the plane via inflatable slides.
