Émilie Dequenne: Her Moving Final Role in “Capitaine Marleau” Aired Posthumously

This Friday, May 9, 2025, France 2 is airing a special episode of the series “Capitaine Marleau.” Titled “La septième danse,” it features the final role played by actress Émilie Dequenne, who passed away from cancer on March 16 at the age of 43. The filming was marked by emotion, and she participated between May and June 2024 while she was in remission.

In the episode, Émilie Dequenne portrays Véronique, the owner of an estate hosting a dance festival, alongside her husband Alexandre (played by Grégoire Bonnet). The plot begins with the disappearance of their daughter and the murder of Alexandre’s brother, a case that Captain Marleau (Corinne Masiero) must solve.

Josée Dayan, the director of the series, recalls the filming with emotion: “I wanted to work with Émilie because she is a very, very beautiful and talented actress. The filming coincided with her remission when she was eager to work. This synchronicity delighted me, and I believe it did her as well.”

Despite her fatigue, Émilie Dequenne never complained. “She was in a wonderful mood on set,” notes Josée Dayan. Corinne Masiero, for her part, was struck by her courage and zest for life: “She was our ray of sunshine.”

The actress wanted to experience this moment with her family: her daughter Milla, who worked as a makeup artist on set, and her husband Michel Ferracci, who had a small role, were present. It was an “almost family-like atmosphere,” according to Corinne Masiero, who remembers the sparkle in her partner’s eyes.

“La septième danse” will remain a vibrant tribute to a talented actress and a radiant woman, whose passing has deeply affected her loved ones and the film industry.
