HomeSportFootballChampions League: PSG and Inter Milan to face off in historic final in Munich

Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan will meet for the first time in an official competition as they clash in the final of the 2024–2025 UEFA Champions League. The much-anticipated showdown is set for Saturday, May 31 at 9 p.m. (Cotonou time) at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.

PSG booked their ticket to the final with a dominant two-legged performance against Arsenal. After securing a 1–0 win in London, the Parisians sealed the deal at home with a 2–1 victory, thanks to goals from Fabián Ruiz and Achraf Hakimi. Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was outstanding throughout, making several crucial saves.

Inter Milan, for their part, delivered one of the most dramatic semi-finals in recent memory against FC Barcelona. Trailing late in the second leg, the Nerazzurri forced extra time with a 93rd-minute equalizer from Francesco Acerbi. Davide Frattesi then struck the decisive goal in extra time, bringing the aggregate score to a thrilling 7–6.

The Milanese side will be playing in their seventh Champions League final. They have lifted the trophy three times (1964, 1965, 2010), most recently reaching the final in 2023, where they narrowly lost to Manchester City (1–0).

For PSG, this marks a second shot at Champions League glory, following their 2020 final loss to Bayern Munich—also by a 1–0 margin. The French champions now hope to finally etch their name into European football history.

A battle for glory—and millions

Beyond prestige, the winner will claim a €25 million prize and qualify for the UEFA Super Cup, the Intercontinental Cup, and the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup.

The Allianz Arena has hosted historic first-time victories in the Champions League for several clubs—a promising omen for PSG, who are still chasing their first European star.
