Champions League: Barça knocked out as Inter reach the final

HomeSportFootballChampions League: Barça knocked out as Inter reach the final

Barcelona are out of the Champions League after losing 4-3 to Inter Milan on Tuesday night. The Italian side has now qualified for the 2024–2025 final, marking their second appearance in the competition’s showpiece in three years.

The highly anticipated return leg between Inter and Barça delivered on its promise, with both teams going all out in search of victory after a 3-3 draw in the first leg. Goals flowed on both sides in a tense, end-to-end encounter, but it was the Nerazzurri who ultimately came out on top, sealing a 4-3 aggregate win at the final whistle.

It’s a well-earned success for the Milan-based club, who last reached the final in the 2022–2023 season, when they were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Manchester City. Inter will be hoping for a different outcome this time around.

As for Barcelona, the long wait continues. The Catalan giants have not lifted the Champions League trophy since their 2014–2015 triumph, when the legendary trio of Messi, Suárez and Neymar led them to glory. With their European hopes dashed once again, Barça will now turn their full focus to La Liga—starting with the all-important Clásico against Real Madrid on May 11.
