Cameroon: 70 kg of drugs hidden in air compressors intercepted at the airport

Cameroonian customs authorities seized 70 kilograms of drugs at Douala International Airport on Tuesday, according to an official statement dated April 16 and signed by Minister Delegate for Finance, Yaouba Abdoulaye.

According to customs services, the value of the illegal cargo exceeds $3 million, or approximately 1.73 billion CFA francs. The drugs were being transported on a RwandAir flight originating from South Africa.

The prohibited substances—a mix of methamphetamine, ephedrine, and cocaine—had been cleverly concealed in thirteen air compressors, which had been modified to hide the illicit goods.

“The seized products are currently under seal and being held in customs facilities, pending their transfer to the competent authorities. Legal proceedings have been initiated in accordance with existing legislation,” a customs official stated.
