In Benin, a decapitated body was discovered on the morning of Saturday, April 12, on a field in Doïssa-Ataké, a neighborhood in Savalou commonly used by local youth for recreational activities.
The male victim had not yet been identified at the time of the initial investigation. The gruesome discovery has caused shock and concern among the local population.
Alerted to the scene, law enforcement and local authorities quickly arrived. The village chief of Koutago, Patrice Ayihounou Denakpon, spoke on site, calling it an “incomprehensible act” and urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with investigators.
The body was transported to the morgue of the Savalou district hospital, pending formal identification and the results of an autopsy that may guide the initial lines of inquiry. According to police authorities, all possibilities remain open, including ritual killing, revenge, or an isolated act of homicide.
