Former German international Toni Kroos has declared that FC Barcelona’s rising star Pedri is currently the best midfielder in the world.

Pedri is arguably having the best season of his career. The Barça playmaker has been instrumental in the Catalan club’s push for a historic treble—La Liga, the Champions League, and the Copa del Rey. His performances have not only drawn praise from his supporters but also from rivals.

Among them is Toni Kroos, the Real Madrid legend, who didn’t hold back his admiration for the young Spaniard. Kroos praised Pedri’s ability to score goals and deliver decisive passes, calling him a player whose absence is always felt.

“Pedri is currently the best in the world at his position, in my eyes,” Kroos said. “He’s the kind of player you miss when he’s not on the pitch, no matter the opponent. He doesn’t just score or provide assists—he solves problems.”

Kroos even cited stats to back up his claim. “I’ve watched Pedri closely this season. In the Champions League alone, he outplays an average of 52 opponents per game. In La Liga, it’s even more—he goes past 59 players per match! He gets by 11 to 12 defenders per game, which is incredibly difficult for a midfielder. He’s the best. And when he’s missing, you feel it,” Kroos added, clearly impressed.
