During Tuesday’s press conference, Lamine Yamal revisited Barcelona’s recent Copa del Rey victory over Real Madrid—and took the opportunity to poke fun at their rivals once again.
“I told Araujo that it didn’t matter if they scored one or two goals against us because this year, they just can’t beat us,” Yamal had declared to the media after Barça’s triumph over Real Madrid in Saturday’s Copa del Rey final.
A key figure for Barça this season, the 17-year-old Spanish international played a major role in securing the club’s first trophy of the year. And he hasn’t missed a chance to tease his Madrid opponents.
On Tuesday, ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League clash against Inter Milan, Yamal doubled down with another jab. “As long as I’m winning, they can’t say anything… If they beat me, then they’ll be able to,” the young Blaugrana star said with a smile.
Whether Real Madrid will manage to silence their young rival remains to be seen. They’ll have one last shot—on May 11, during the final Clasico of the season between Spain’s two football giants.
