Niger: Abdourahmane Tiani appoints members of the National Reconstruction Advisory Council

Niger’s president, General Abdourahmane Tiani, on Thursday, May 1st, appointed the members of the National Reconstruction Advisory Council (Conseil consultatif de la refondation, CCR), marking a key step in the institutional overhaul process launched after the February 2025 National Dialogue.

The announcement was made via a statement from the government’s general secretariat, broadcast on national television. It comes two weeks after the adoption of Ordinance No. 2025-07 on April 18, which formally established the CCR as stipulated in Article 68 of the Charter for National Reconstruction.

Under the authority of a Coordinating Bureau, the CCR is tasked with providing recommendations and guidance on major national issues. These recommendations will be submitted to the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP) and the government.

The body is organized into six thematic commissions: peace and security, political reform, economy, geopolitics, justice, and health and education. Authorities say its membership reflects a cross-section of Nigerien society, bringing together figures from a wide range of social and professional sectors. The full list of members is set to be published in the next issue of Sahel Dimanche, the government’s official gazette.

General Tiani, who came to power following the ousting of President Mohamed Bazoum in 2023, was appointed head of state for a five-year renewable term during the February National Dialogue.
