FC Barcelona midfielder Pedri has admitted that he dreams of winning the Ballon d’Or in the near future.

The Spanish international stated that Manchester City’s Rodri winning the coveted award in 2024 proved that midfielders who control the tempo of matches can indeed claim football’s highest individual honor.

Speaking to the media ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League semifinal between Barcelona and Inter Milan, Pedri emphasized that his focus remains on the Blaugrana for now, insisting he is not thinking about individual accolades at the moment.

“Since Rodri won the Ballon d’Or, it has become clear that this award can go to a player who controls the midfield and dictates the rhythm of the game,” he told Daily Sports. “I’ve always dreamed of winning the Ballon d’Or. But with just one month left in the season, my focus is on the team: winning three titles, and that’s the most important thing right now.”

A key figure this season, Pedri played a decisive role in Barça’s 3-2 victory over Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final this past weekend.
