HomeSportFootballGabon: Aubameyang reacts to the tragic death of Aaron Boupendza

The tragic passing of Gabonese striker Aaron Boupendza continues to send shockwaves through the football world. The latest to respond is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The heartbreaking news broke on Wednesday. Having joined Zhejiang FC in China in January, Aaron Boupendza passed away this morning after falling from the 11th floor of a building. The premature death of the Gabon international has plunged the football world into mourning—including his former teammate and national team captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

In a story posted on his Instagram account, the Al-Qadsiah striker, currently playing in Saudi Arabia, paid tribute to his late compatriot: “I have no words. Rest in peace, my brother,” wrote the former Marseille forward.

A true journeyman, Aaron Boupendza played for Bordeaux and Pau in France (where he scored 14 goals in 21 National matches), as well as Feirense in Portugal. He rose to prominence at Hatayspor in Turkey, finishing as the Süper Lig’s top scorer with 22 goals. His career then took him to Al-Arabi, Al-Shabab, FC Cincinnati, and more recently, Rapid Bucharest. On January 31, 2025, he joined Zhejiang Professional in China, making an impressive start with 4 goals in 6 matches.
