Uganda: Accused of Theft, Singer Eddy Kenzo Breaks Silence

HomePeopleCelebrityUganda: Accused of Theft, Singer Eddy Kenzo Breaks Silence

Accused of copyright theft by Cameroonian singer Gasha a few weeks ago, Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo has finally broken his silence to explain.

In April 2024, the Cameroonian music scene was rocked by accusations of plagiarism and copyright infringement leveled by singer Gasha against the famous Ugandan artist Eddy Kenzo. Gasha claimed that her popular track “Chill,” released in 2015, was fraudulently used by Eddy Kenzo, who allegedly posted the music video under his own name on his platforms.

Gasha highlighted that she had not received any profit from the 5 million views amassed over nine years and that she had experienced difficulty in communicating with Eddy Kenzo, known for his hit “Sitya Loss” released in 2014, to resolve the issue.

The awaited response from Eddy Kenzo was finally revealed. In a detailed statement, he addressed the music fans in Cameroon, seeking to shed light on this situation that tarnishes his image and reputation.

Hello everyone, so you guys seriously believe what Gasha is saying for real! Without doing any research seriously? Can you look up the numbers for this song on my platforms, does it make sense considering the amount of money she’s talking about? When did I receive this money? And from what sources? 5 million YouTube views, that’s like 2,000 dollars (1,000,000 FCFA), even less, check this song on all my platforms and come back with a conclusion after doing the research. Do not believe without knowing the truth, judge from an enlightened viewpoint, please. She never paid me to make this song, she paid 1,000 dollars to extend my return flight to Africa from America, that’s it,” he explained.

The Ugandan singer went on to add, “Came to Cameroon to shoot the video, I paid for everything with my team, we filmed the video, and did the editing and color grading, anyway, I didn’t want to talk about Gasha at all. Because I don’t understand, what’s this about now? Can Gasha bring proof of what she’s talking about? My Cameroonian people, I think we can do better than this, to be honest. I’m waiting for the correct information, and I will remove this song immediately with or without proof, I will put it down. I was waiting for the correct information because I don’t want to remove it and you say I took her part. Can someone do research and get back to me please? The numbers are there on all the platforms, count them, please. Thank you.
